Semper Optimum Meum - Always my best. Never was a school motto more apt than that of Hoe Bridge School. Our ethos is to produce happy, confident, achieving children who will appreciate the learning and experiences of their preparatory education throughout their lifetime. Many families join us from our Pre-Prep department already familiar with the many benefits of a Hoe Bridge education, our unique ethos and maintaining friendships. Others come from different Pre-Prep schools keen for their child to gain the best preparation for the senior school of their choice, and beyond.
In the classroom, on the playing fields, over lunch and on our fantastic school trips, we foster respect, independence, confidence, courtesy, fairness, inclusiveness, charity and responsibility. The children celebrate individual, team and house successes whether their own or those of others. House competitions, the democratic School Council, presenting in school assembly and our chosen local and international charities are examples of how we put these principles into practice. Your child will leave us as a rounded young citizen.
We make no apology for challenging children to become the very best they can. Our highly qualified and motivated teaching staff collaborate to achieve the best outcomes for the individual child. We prepare ‘Thinking Children’, able to perform exceptionally well through the rigours of 11+ assessments and flourishing in Common Entrance and senior school scholarships. No area of school life is an island, and we motivate the children to discover for themselves that achievement in one subject or activity can be repeated in others by applying the same hard work and passion. This determination can be found in equal measure in our substantial choice of after school activities to suit all interests and talents.
Your child will enjoy the very best environment in which to learn, play and grow with fully equipped classrooms and specialist areas across ICT, science, music, art and design and technology. Our playing fields, all-weather and cricket pitches, swimming pool and gym help to ensure a healthy balance with sport most afternoons. The school grounds – with their playing fields, adventure playground, meadow, woods, river and pond – are often described as a ‘hidden gem’. We are also very proud of our new 110-seat Performing Arts Centre, which provides a vital stage for building creativity and expression.
