WELLBEING

Our holistic approach to wellbeing is so integral to life at Hoe Bridge, that even our youngest pupils feel supported at an age-appropriate level.  From a worry monster in each classroom to pupil lead conversations and dedicated teachers that know each child so well, means that we begin at an early age to support the children for both the successes and challenges they may face in their every day life.

Wellbeing Award for Schools

In June 2020 we achieved our Wellbeing Award for Schools. This whole school award focusses on ensuring effective practice and provision is in place, promoting the emotional wellbeing and mental health of the whole school community. The award has an emphasis on embedding a culture where mental health is seen as the responsibility of all and where we understand how best to support everyone in the school’s community.

Through achieving this award, we have:

  • Shown our commitment to promoting mental health as part of school life
  • Improved the emotional wellbeing of staff and pupils
  • Ensured mental health problems are identified early and appropriate supportprovided
  • Offered provision and interventions that match the needs of its pupils and staff
  • Engaged the whole-school community in the importance of mental health awareness
  • Captured the views of parents, pupils and teachers on mental health issues

While we have achieved the award and created a supportive and nurturing community, we know that these are the first steps on a larger journey, ensuring that we continue to develop this important part of day-to-day life.
