IAPS NATIONAL HOCKEY FINALS

21 November 2019

Today the U11 'A' hockey girls competed in the IAPS National Hockey Finals at Haileybury School. Their first group match was tough and the girls were unfortunate not to score against Framlingham who managed to win 1-0. They then beat West Hill 1-0. The girls dominated their match against Bedford girls but were unfortunate to lose. The final two group matches ended up as 0-0 draws and the lack of goals for Hoe Bridge saw the girls finish in 5th position in the group stages.

The team went into the knock-out competition for the bowl. They played Sherbourne in the first knock out match and continually attacked their goal. They had many opportunities but enjoyed hitting the keeper rather than the corners! Eventually they found the back of the goal and went through having won 1-0. The girls were very happy as they had played their best hockey of the day. They excitedly went on to play Cargilfield. Two great goals and some lovely saves from our keeper saw the girls go through to the final against West Hill.

Both teams were desperate to take the bowl and the match saw exciting end to end hockey. They unfortunately lost 0-1 but the girls had a great experience finishing second in the bowl competition.
