On Sunday 15 October Hoe Bridge Year 8 students took part in the national schools ‘Green Power Kit Car’ race at Dunsfold Race Track. The Hoe Bridge car looked marvellous and was quicker than previous years due to its new engine. It was a thoroughly enjoyable event in which the work the children had completed in art, design and technology, STEAM workshops and advice direct from McLaren Sport was put to the test.
We drove the care for the full 1 hour and 30 minutes in the first race but sadly in the second race disaster struck with the axel moving to one side, causing the drive chain to come off! The team came 63rd in the F24 race out of 93 national schools and colleges who were competing. A great fun learning experience for all our students across multiple subjects. Great team effort from Year 8!
