WELLBEING WEEK SHINES A LIGHT ON EMOTIONAL INDEPENDENCE

12 January 2026
Hoe Bridge launched its first Wellbeing Week of the year on Monday 12 January, focusing on the theme of emotional independence — a core school value. Pupils explored how to recognise and manage their emotions through activities designed to build confidence, resilience and self‑awareness.

Throughout the week, children took part in meditation, mindful colouring, craft sessions, Zumba, nature walks and self‑regulation activities in the Outdoor Learning Hub and Library. A Wicked sing‑along and a hot chocolate station added extra fun and warmth.  Pre‑Prep pupils enjoyed additional experiences including a visit from a Shire Horse, kindness‑themed assemblies, playground check‑in buddies and the whole school took part in a vibrant “Colour Monday” to brighten the winter term with pupils wearing a pop of colour and unleashing their creativity with chalk drawings to brighten the arrival to school. Senior pupils also supported Year 2 drop‑off as part of the community‑building focus.

Staff were encouraged to join in too, with wellbeing treats and mindful activities available in the staffroom.

The week created a positive, uplifting atmosphere across the whole school community, helping everyone strengthen emotional independence and overall wellbeing.
