Year 2 have had fun this week hunting for bugs in our Meadow and Hideout and much to their glee found all sorts of spiders, beetles, millipedes and slugs. They had a visit from Mr Gibbs, the Bee Man who explained to the children how he keeps his bee hives and how to use a smoker to calm the bees down and reduce the risk of bee stings. The children were fascinated by the thought of being able to see like a bee with their ultra violet vision. He showed the children the fruits and vegetables grown in the UK which are pollinated by bees and he very kindly gave each child a little pot of honey and activity book!
