Sporting Weekend Finishes with Gold & Silver!

Published on 17 September 2018

A busy sporting weekend has ended with gold & silver medals with both our boys & girls competing in tournaments on Saturday.

The U10 'a' girls went to Feltonfleet to take part in their netball tournament. The girls played seven 14 minute games back to back with only a minute break in between each one - a real physical challenge! They won six of their matches comfortably against Hawthorns, Feltonfleet, The Study, St Georges, Guildford High and Rowan and drew one match against Halstead 6 - 6. Being undefeated and the results from all the other matches meant that Hoe Bridge were overall winners. The girls scored a total of 56 goals and conceded 11. This is a fantastic achievement and the girls showed great determination and some outstanding skills coming away deserved winners! Well played to them all.

In the afternoon, the 1st VII went to Parkside School for their annual football tournament. An action packed event saw the boys perform to a really good standard throughout the afternoon with them played three group matches to start with. After a slow start, they drew one, won one and lost the third which placed them second in the group and through to the cup competition. The quarter final saw them face Danes Hill and after a competitive game it was all even ending 0 - 0. A penalty shoot then followed to decide the winner and with one great save and three well taken penalties, Hoe Bridge clinched the victory. The semi final was another well fought game this time against Feltonfleet where the boys worked hard to finish with a 1 - 0 win. The final was against the hosts Parkside and was a very even contest throughout, either team could have won and both had several opportunities to score. It ended in disappointment for Hoe Bridge as Parkside managed to find a way through and won the game 1 - 0. The boys should be very proud of themselves and of the effort they put in throughout the tournament.

A super effort all round from all those children who competed - well done!
