Elmer Goes to Bethlehem

Published on 11 December 2018

Elmer the Elephant packed her trunk and walked all the way to Hoe Bridge - where the Reception children were practising their Christmas play. Music teacher Mrs McIntosh had cleverly woven an elephant into the nativity story! Elmer wanted to join in but she was too big to be a donkey, not woolly enough to be a sheep and she didn’t have any humps so she couldn’t be a camel either. Poor Elmer! By the time she had been round all the characters everyone; the shepherds, inn keepers, angels, kings and Elmer herself, were all gathered round Mary and Joseph and the manger celebrating the birth of Jesus! What a celebration!
