Charities Get a Huge Boost!

Published on 6 January 2016

On Friday 27 November, after careful counting, checking and an independent verification, the School was able to present cheques to the charities from last year, Pebbles Project and Giving to George's. In the presence of the chairs of the Parent's Circle, Fundraisers and Social Committee, Mrs Renfrew presented cheques for £9,500 to Carlie Burrows from St George's Hospital, Tooting and to representatives of Pebbles Project, Gemma and Harrison Burnell.

Carlie from St George's was quite overcome by the value of the cheque as it was far in excess of what she had hoped for! It now means that the MRI scanner that they were hoping to purchase is now a definite as our money made up the shortfall the hospital had.

There was a similar story for Pebbles in South Africa. When told the total amount by telephone following the presentation, the Director of the Charity, Sophia Warner was speechless for some seconds as she was overcome by tears. The total converts to almost ZAR200,000 (South Africa Rand) and now means that instead of just the one classroom they had hoped to build, they could now build two and make a difference to the families on wine farms in the Cape!

Well done to everyone for working so hard with the fundraising - you have made a real difference!
