Celebration Of Reading

Published on 15 October 2018

Our 'Celebration of Reading Week' was such a success!

Pre-Prep welcomed the author and illustrator Mr Nicholas Allan and the pupils spent time in workshops and listening to his wonderful tales. The children were able to develop their own group story and to add their own illustrations Nicholas Allan style. A total of £1,222,94 worth of books was sold at the Book Fair and we will now receive £673.77 worth of books for our own library. The children also looked wonderful on Book Character Day with lots of imaginative outfits and unusual characters from Percy the Park Keeper, Little Miss Sunshine, Arthur Dent (Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy) to a plethora of Harry Potters!

Reading took center stage in the Prep Department with even the Headmaster's study becoming a very popular venue for quiet reading. It was often being invaded by swarms of keen readers wanting to sit on the new sofa, sprawl across the floor or even spend a five minute slot in the Headmaster’s office chair.
