Our Developments

Development of The Performing Arts Centre & Dining Room

We are delighted to announce that we will soon be beginning the next phase of our ‘20/20 Vision - A Master Strategy’. Our plans for a new Performing Arts Centre and Dining Room extension have recently been approved and finalised and work will commence in March of this year. In 2012, the School embarked upon a master development strategy in order to secure its place as the leading preparatory school in Woking and the surrounding areas and this plan was christened ‘20/20 Vision’. The intention was to complete the major projects within the strategy by the end of 2020 and we are incredibly proud to have completed this plan earlier than expected with this phase due for completion in August 2019.

The development has been designed by Oxford based chartered architects MEB Design Ltd. The main part of this development is a Performing Arts Centre which will be a multi-purpose rehearsal auditorium, lecture hall and hospitality venue. This space will provide us with a purpose-built area for mini-concerts, dance or drama performances as well as a super venue for visiting speaker lectures. This new state-of-the-art facility will increase the provision of the arts greatly - carefully woven to the original fabric of the building, the aim is to create a versatile, striking and unique venue for teaching and performances. It will also provide a bespoke viewing area for the all-weather pitches giving spectators an ideal vantage point to watch sporting events.

The second part of this project is the extension to our dining room. Currently our dining room serves 340 pupils and 40 staff over three sittings which are all a little time limited. By increasing this space, we will be able to enhance the dining experience for both the children and staff. We look forward to a warm, colourful and fun space with flexible ‘caterpillar’ tables allowing children to eat meals at a leisurely pace with both their friends and teachers. It will also mean that through the bespoke Holroyd Howe menus, each child will have a super choice of homemade hot dishes, freshly prepared vegetables, jacket potatoes with fillings, and salads. Children will then be able to help themselves to an assortment of puddings and fresh fruit from the custom-made child friendly food counter.

The development will also support the School’s outreach work enabling us to host events such as STEAM workshops, drama and dance taster sessions for children from our local primary schools. It will also provide extra indoor space for our Holiday Camps that run throughout the year.
