The children at the Pre-Prep have full use of all the sports facilities available at school - a large multi-purpose sports hall, astro-turf, open air heated swimming pool, our own hall with specialised primary gymnastic apparatus and extensive playing fields – under the direction of our own specialist games and swimming teacher.
Children arriving in the Nursery learn a range of basic skills aimed at developing agility, balance, co-ordination and general fitness. They use the specialised gymnastic equipment throughout the Autumn and Spring term, gaining a BAGA pre-school award. They also use the playground and playing fields to develop games skills.
Children in Reception continue to develop their gymnastic and games skills with added music and movement once a week.
Year 1 children have one gymnastic and games lesson throughout the Autumn and Spring terms and are able to gain the BAGA awards when they are ready.
Our Year 2 children have an additional weekly games lesson at the Prep school where they become familiar with the Prep sports staff and learn to further develop netball, football and rugby skills during the Autumn and Spring terms with rounders and cricket in the summer.
In the Summer term there is much excitement as children from Reception to Year 2 look forward to their swimming lessons in our outdoor heated swimming pool. All children gain a swimming award during this time.
In the Spring term of 2010 everyone had a great time participating in the sponsored mile walk for Sport Relief followed by an afternoon of games activities. Every summer we practise hard for the challenge and fun of our annual sports day which parents and grandparents come along to support and enjoy a sociable morning of bacon rolls, coffee and Pims.
End of term awards include cups for excellence and also for good sportsmanship.
