The Arts
The school has an excellent and well-equipped Music department.
Performances by the choirs, woodwind, string, brass ensembles and orchestra are regular features during term time. There are informal, formal and show-case concerts and all children are encouraged to learn one or more instruments. Expert tuition is available at school.
Drama is taught at all levels and there are regular informal productions as well as an annual school musical or play. Children not only act but also learn to take some technical control of plays.
The standard of Art at the school is recognised as being outstanding. A wide variety of skills are taught including painting, sculpture, ceramics and print-making. The history of art and architecture is also covered in the curriculum.
Design Technology is taught from Year 3, pupils are presented with design briefs involving mechanical and electrical systems. Other areas of study include textile and package design and research into various areas of industry such as air transport, consumer products and telecommunications.
