History

History at Hoe Bridge is not a dead subject. The past is brought alive through engaging teaching with the emphasis on exploration and learning though enjoyment. In a tremendously positive learning environment, the subject is taught throughout the pre-prep and preparatory schools.

From Year 4 history is taught as an individual subject. The students are thoroughly prepared for Scholarship and Common Entrance examinations to senior independent schools and they explore, investigate and evaluate history chronologically.

For all the students History is a lively experience. They re-enact battles; they interpret history for themselves from relevant source material; they uncover historical mysteries; and they argue about controversial events, people and changes in the past. History is intrinsically interesting for all pupils and their lessons here will not disappoint them.
